“One of the 20 must visits european sites for 2019”
Hungarian countryside – For a really relaxing trip to Hungary, stay at Koppany Pines, a small and peaceful site in the countryside, about a 50-minute drive south of Lake Balaton. There are several thermal spa towns nearby, and the site is close enough to Budapest for day trips to the capital
A visit to Koppany Pines is a classic camping experience set within a protected nature park which has encouraged a diversity of insect and bird life, including Orioles and Skylarks. Look out for deer, hedgehogs, rabbits, frogs chased by snakes and that’s before you leave the campsite. Butterflies are abundant and have become so accustomed to our campers if you sit still long enough they may land on you!
You will notice eco friendly products around the site as well as a vine, a small orchard, vegetable and fruit plots springing up as we feel that working in tune with our natural environment is really important. We hope you agree and help us by conserving water and recycling as much as possible.

Facilities & Amenities
The first mention has to go to our pool. Whether it’s first thing in the morning, after a long walk or cooling from the heat of the sun, the pool is fantastic. Set up on the top on the mount it looks across the Koppany Valley giving a sense of freedom. It’s cleaned thoroughly every day.
The main facilities block is always clean and well maintained, with showers so good even we use them, sinks and toilets. We have added additional sinks, separate toilet and additional outdoor showers for busy periods, as well as a mirrored hairdryer station. We offer an ample sized covered kitchen with laundry area (small charge) complete with microwave, kettle, fridge, freezer for icepacks and washing up sinks.
You will find communal seating around the main firepit, cafe-bar and kitchen area. There is a reading area with games, books and pencils and colouring for the younger ones. We have set up various rustic relaxation areas with a variety of table, chairs and hammocks around the site so you have a choice of enjoying your own company or coming together with the other campers. We have also completed the boules pitch and added flood lights for the evening.
Touring pitches have 15amp electric hook-up, there are several available for tents, but please book ahead as these are popular.

For your use
One of the hardest issue when touring is space, so we have tried to make it easier for our guests by providing some of those items that we could never fit in!
We’ve built a pizza oven in our communal area for guest use and also a fire pit in each camping area. We will happy provide you with the equipment if you want to your hand at outdoor cooking or arrange you own group meal. The unpolluted skies are amazing and to enhance this experience we have bought some camp star-gazing equipment and put together a ‘how to’ booklet.
In the kitchen area we have supplied a microwave, kettle, toaster, washing machine, fridge/freezer and gadget charging area.
If there is anything you think we have forgotton let us know!

- Tripod for firepit cooking
- Rustic relaxation areas
- Camp star-gazing telescope

We have a campsite dog, Oscar and the site is very dog friendly. The site backs onto the vineyards and pincer houses and so we have opened the rear gate for convenient off road dog walking. We do ask that owners keep pets on lead on site and in the village and don’t leave them unaccompanied for long periods. If you need a pet sitter, just ask and we will see what we can arrange. Any excessive barking will be addressed.
Great blog for dog onwers!
Jackie Lambert and her husband visited the site for a stopover on their romanian roadtrip with her four dogs. Jackie has written a number of books based on travelling with dogs and has the renown blog
If you have any questions about travelling with your dog, do drop Jackie a message.
