Being a natural undisturbed environment the birds are thriving.  A short distance from the site we have the Pacsmags Lakes of Regoly.   A system of fish-ponds and adjacent marshes in the valley of the River Koppány, 10 km to the south-east of the town of Tamási. The fish-ponds are overgrown with beds of Phragmites and Typha, whilst the adjacent marshlands are dominated by sedge Carex links:- https://www.hungarianbirdwatching.com/   http://www.birding.hu/

The unpolluted skies of the Koppany Valley offer ideal star gazing opportunities and we have a mini viewing deck with telescopes and viewing binoculars for your use.

Within 1hr 30m of the campsite is Zselic Starry Sky Park. The park has an astronomy program for visitors that includes full-dome movies at the planetarium, a meteorite collection and a telescopic observation.

The campsite is situated directly on the Koppany Valley trails, a network which traverses five villages of the Nature Park.  We are also within striking distance of the DDP hikes (red walk).

Beautiful nature – and cultural landscape. Hill with wine houses, forests and fields. Healthy wildstand and beautiful flora. Walking kilometers without encounter anyone on the most fantastic paths and amazing views.

Cycling in Transdanubia is one of the most enjoyable ways to explore more of this part of Hungary.  Take the road from the campsite to Nagykonyi, continue to Pari and then pick up the cycle path to Tamasi.  From Tamsia follow an 8km cycle path linking to the village of Regoly. The view below is of the renowned national bird reserve of Pacsmags Lakes seen from the cycle path.  As well as the local area, you may want to explore further afield and visit some of the nearby attractions by bike, such as Fonyod

The best-known wines are the white dessert wine Tokay (Tokaji) and Bull’s Blood (Egri Bikavér), a full-bodied red wine, more information.

Dating back to the Romans hungarian wine production comes from a variety of grapes.

Villany is one of Hungary’s top wine regions dotted with castles and thermal baths in the Southern Transdanubian region and  it is worth visiting the wine cellars of Villanykovesd too. Thanks to this sub-Mediterranean climate, wines from Villany are full-bodied and spicy and of the highest quality.

If you’d like to trial some hungarian wine prior to your visit, we have been chatting to these guys who are UK based and they have been great providing information and facts about the grapes and areas, so take a look, The Hungarian Wine House.
