“Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer. Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack of harmony and proportion is more readily seen.”

― Leonardo da Vinci

Back to Nature

Set within a protected nature park which has encouraged a diversity of insect and bird life, including Orioles and Skylarks, Koppany Pines is an idyllic location to recharge those batteries.

Koppányvölgy Natúrpark  has been left underdeveloped to encourage wildlife and fauna to develop naturally and nature has flourished.  Sit quietly and you have an almost 100 % chance to observe wild animals such as red deer, roe deer and fox. Some other interesting, rare animals that are readily seen are bee-eater, white-tailed eagle, raven, yellow-bellied toad, European pond turtle, stag beetle, alpine longhorn beetle, common glow-worm, praying mantis.  Each morning we wake to a chorus of bird song before starting our day, accompanied by nature’s symphony.

You will notice eco friendly products around the site as well as a vine, a small orchard, vegetable & herb gardens, fruit plots and our wild meadow as we work in tune with our natural environment towards sustainability.  Our Tea House has homegrown offerings or products sourced from local producers to support the local economy.  You will also notice our passion for upcycling and recycling all around the site.

We invite our guests to conserving water and recycling as much as possible whilst on site.

Your hardest choice will be how to fill your day!

Reconnecting with nature has a very calming effect, even just taking a walk you feel the stress of the day relieved.  Through training and certification we are now able to offer experiences to take advantage of the nature around us by adding mindful photo-walking, forest bathing and lake meditation as well as a range of family friendly mindfulness sessions, to our existing activities .   We have a seasonal pool in our meadow and with three of Hungary’s famous thermal baths within a short distance it all partners perfectly to create a wonderful escape from every day life.  You don’t have to stay to take part in these sessions, but we love it if you do!

Into the evening you will find us cooking around the campfire, at the campsite bar relaxing or stargazing.  We even created a boules pitch last year, which was popular with the families.  At least once a week we create a hungarian dish on the fire using traditional kettle cooking. For the other evenings there are various options, we offer a ‘dine with the host’, there’s a pizzeria in the village, fish and chips at Nagkonyi or a visit to a local restaurant or make use of the firepits and stands around the campsite.

In 2020 we saw an advert on facebook for a guesthouse and campsite in rural Hungary located in the Koppany Valley Nature Park.   It took one visit for us to take a leap of faith and start our next life adventure.   It has been a tough journey, but full of experiences and learning.  We’ve had to face our fears, face ourselves and find mental strength to make sure we enjoy as well as tackle the challenges head on.  We have adapted, broken habits, retrained and found strengths in each other we didn’t know existed.  The reconnection with nature has been a key element to our day to day survival and as we go into season three we are going to continue to build on this and share our experience with others and we couldn’t have a better location.

We look forward to sharing our new life with you!

We are placed on one of the walking trails of the Koppany Valley in  KOPPANYSZANTO a village of just 400 people, surrounded by vineyards, forest and wildlife.  It’s one of five villages in the Koppany Valley which have been given a special status in light of the plant and wildlife.   We have use of a private lake 15 minutes walk from the site for meditation, fishing, picnics and mindfulness activities.
